More container lifting power for West Africa

    Konecranes is reported to have started shipments of 15 Rubber Tired Gantry cranes (RTGs) to three prime locations in the West African sub region. The RTGs are part of a number of cranes ordered by the industry giant Bollore for some of it’s container terminals in the region.

   The lome terminal in Togo would receive four of the RTG cranes whiles the Cotonou terminal in Benin receives five and six of the RTG cranes would be delivered to Bollere’s terminal in Pointe Noire in Congo.

  The 15 RTG cranes will be equipped with the Konecranes’ Smarter Cabin offering improved ergonomics, visibility and safety. They will also have Auto-steering, Variable Speed Engine and Diesel Fuel Saver technology

  The equipment manufacturer’s 16-wheel RTGs will have a lifting capacity of 40 tons stacking 1-over-5 containers high and 7 plus truck lane wide with the operating systems of the cranes and the terminal connected to each other.
